I found this list of the biotech jobs interesting (from http://www.boston.com/jobs/industries/biotech/)
- if you're an analytical chemist, the world is your oyster, apparently!

What's happening in science in Boston?

The greater Boston/Cambridge area is home to some of the most gifted scientists in the world, as well as to thousands of up-and-coming, soon-to-be Nobel Prize winners. This blog was designed to bring this great community of scientists together and to notify the community of upcoming events of interest - exhibitions, conferences, lectures - and eventually, I hope to add more cultural content of possible interest to the science community. I also hope to draw your attention to some of the important political and economic happenings in science in the Boston area.

I was inspired to put this together by a visit to the New York Academy of Sciences - a thriving organization located at a unique site - gaze to the north and you see most of beautiful Manhattan and the East River. But if you gaze down and to the right - it's "Ground Zero", site of the event which changed our (scientific) lives dramatically in the post- 9/11 world.

So check back - I hope to update the blog every day but I already have two plus jobs! More about me later - I'm not the main story - Boston and all its scientific wonders will be the tale we tell here.

Lunar eclipse - in case you missed it!

Last night Boston was treated to a beautiful lunar eclipse, and the clouds stayed away long enough to give us a good show. Boston.com has a nice photo essay -- this photo is by John Tlumacki/Globe Staff. Stunning! http://www.boston.com/news/science/gallery/022108_lunareclipse/
Check it out! I watched it with the smokers standing in the door of my favorite flashback-to-the-1950s restaurant, Pleasant Cafe in Roslindale, and then from the top of Larz Anderson Park in Brookline.
